Where we have big hearts for wet noses!

We are strong advocates for Breed controlling as there are over 40,000 companions Euthanized throughout the U.S. yearly. And the numbers grow. Some breeders regulate, vet their breeding stocks and produce healthy companions.  But, we have what most call "BackYard" breeders/PuppyMills. They don't care about the companions and their litters, just monies. They interbreed, which causes several health complications.
Most are kept in wire cages all their lives, never socialized, live in filth, never vaccinated, which can pass to the pups and many die of diseases .
Links are added here to show you some of these attrocities. Before going to a breeder check out a Rescue or Shelter, they need homes, too... If you're going to use a breeder, ask to see credintials, health records on the parents and see where the dogs are kept.
If you are not comfortable about a breeder, you can report them to your local police and animal control.

Here we invite you to read some good pointers for seasonal tips and other concerns  to help you and your companions throughout the years..
Enjoy and hope you find that forever companion!!
****Summer Health Alert****
Dogs & Cats can suffer from the same problems that humans do--overheating,dehydration & even sunburn--when the mercury rises. By taking these simple precautions, you can keep your companions happy & healthy in the hot weather:
**EXCERCISE YOUR DOG IN THE COOL OF THE EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. Never excercise your pet when it's esp. hot & humid. Take care not to let your dog stand on hot asphalt, as his sensitive paw pads can easily burn.
**DOES YOUR POOCH HAVE A PARTICULARLY HEAVY COAT?
Help prevent your pet from overheating by cutting his hair to a one inch length. Never trim your pet's coat to the skin--which can rob him of his protection from the sun.
**PROVIDE PLENTY OF SHADE AND COOL, CLEAN WATER. This is for animals kept indoors & out. Bring your cat or dog inside during the hottest part of the day, and let him rest in a cool part of the house
**NEVER LEAVE YOUR ANIMAL ALONE IN A VEHICLE. Overheating can be fatal. Even with the doors open, a parked automobile can quickly become a FURNACE with temps over 100...
****Winter Health Alert****
Dogs & Cats are the same as us, when the temps drop outside and it gets wet and cold. They too can catch colds and if not taken care of can become Pneumonia and create health problems.
**SAVE YOUR OLD BLANKETS and give them to your companion in the winter months. Make sure there is a good dog house with a flap over the door way to help block the winds and rains. If blankets are not available, try some pine needles, newspapers, or wood chips.
**METAL FEEDING BOWLS need to be changed to plastic for the winter months. Metal gets very cold and if it freezes, your companions tongue could stick to the metal and cause a lot of pain.
**CLOTHING is another item for your list.. There are many ways to help with the cold season. There are several pet products on the market for dogs of all sizes, even cats. If you want take an old jerzey and fit it to your dog, cut the sleeves off and put two holes in to fit a small dog. BUT there is always the comfort of home if your companion is allowed inside.. If the weather gets too cold, please think of your companions as well as yourself.
***Important Tidbits***
Pets are fantastic companions when you pick the right one for your lifestyle. LEARN more about the type of dog or cat you have in mind before adopting.
They depend on you to teach them about house training. With time and patience they will do most anything to please you. Most cats can stay indoors with a clean litter box and now they have them for dogs as well. This is something that must be kept clean on a regular basis. Sometimes teaching a new companion with kenneling works best for Adopter and Companion. Look into all of your options before choosing.
ALWAYS make sure that your compaion has some sort of shelter, food and water. If you keep your Companions outside make sure they are able to get shelter via a dog house, garage, porch or a petdoor that allows them to get inside. In bad weather they get scared, too.
SPEND quality time with your companion, they are like children to most of us, they like to play, learn and be talked to. You would be surprised what they understand and mimick. Toys and proper teaching helps a puppy learn, which keeps them out of trouble.
With love and patience they become not only your companioin, but your best friend and confidante.
***SPAYING & NEUTERING***

& injuries due to mating, stress &
complications from breeding.
*Spaying eliminates the possibilty
of uternine & ovarian cancer &
greatly reduces the incidence of
breast cancer/mammory tumors..
*Neutering eliminates testicular
cancer & decreases the incidence of prostate disease.
IT'S GOOD FOR YOU
*Pets are usually better, more affectionate companions.
*Male cats are less likely to spray &
mark territory.
*Most pets are less likely to bite.Unsterilized animals often exhibit more behavior & temprament problems than those Spayed/Neutered.
IT'S GOOD FOR THE COMMUNITY!
*Communities spend millions of dollars to control unwanted animals.
*Irresponsible breeding contributes to the problem of dog bites & attacks.
